Canada is a country that welcome foreign workers because it allows it to sustain its economic growth.
To compensate for the labor shortage, Canadian employers are constantly on the lookout for skilled or skilled workers in several fields around the world.
In most cases, foreign workers will need a work permit, there are two categories of work permit
work according to the worker's situation:
Work permit linked to a given employer: as its name indicates, this permit only allows you to work for this employer, in order to apply for this type of work permit, you must first have a job offer valid and apply for an LMIA (labor market impact study). The latter proves that the employer made reasonable efforts to hire locally before going abroad. There are, however, some cases where the worker may be exempt from requesting the LMIA.
The LMIA is a document issued by HRSDC / Service Canada after conducting a study on the impact of hiring foreign workers. In most cases, an employer who wishes to hire a foreign worker must obtain a positive or favorable LMIA. If the evaluation is positive, Service Canada will issue a document containing the working conditions, the names of the foreign workers hired, the expiry date, etc.
· An open work permit: this type of permit allows you to work for any employer. For example, international students can obtain an open post-diploma work permit after the end of their studies, You are a dependent family member of someone who has applied for permanent residence or you are the spouse or the de facto spouse of a skilled worker or a foreign student etc.
At Clic Services Immigration we help future foreign workers in all procedures related to applying for a work permit.
If you are an employer who wishes to hire a foreign worker, we can advise you on the steps to take in order to bring your foreign worker to Canada. It is sometimes possible that you do not need to request the LMIA to be able to hire a foreign worker, please contact us and we will assess together the process that suits you according to your needs and your situation.
